Being of West African, Ghanaian heritage, yet raised with a foster parent from Scotland, left me cut off from my culture, making handling my hair difficult. Not having the correct knowledge of how my hair should be treated, left it unmanageable for both my foster mum and myself. This body of work is about connecting with my roots and culture by being able to care for and learn more about my hair. It is also about having intimate moments with my foster mum in sharing my hair routine.
